The Almsgiving Ceremony, Luang Prabang, Laos

This photo was taken in Luang Prabang in Laos, and shows a scene of the very picturesque Alms giving ceremony : monks at dawn, collecting alms of rice from kneeling villagers.

The monks usually do not like to be photographed. This is not the case in Thailand.

Are they basking or giving?

Those Lao ones don't bother. They are basking.

Striking photo - the color of the monks robes against the dark background is dramatic. Always enjoy your posts.

I stopped in to leave a comment when I saw that Marlene said what I felt.I was going to just leave but then decided to leave it any way, just rephrased.I have visited your post in the past and enjoyed your photos considerable. This one is really nice due to the striking contrast between the monks bright robes and the grey wall behind them. The next shot of the Buddhas in Thailand with the saffron robes is equally as wonderful.Keep up the great photos and good luck to you.Take care.
